Mice are a common pest problem, and the House of Commons has been affected. According to this Metro article, one MP asked for the issue to be debated. We would advise against just talking about the problem, and instead calling your local pest control company - who can use practical measures to solve the problem for you. If you are seeing droppings and signs of mice in your house, HT Bird and Pest Control Services offers mice control in Cornwall. Contact us for a quote. This is Cornwall reports that the Lyubov Orlova ghost ship could be headed for the Cornish coast - read the full article. The ghost ship has been adrift since breaking free of its tow lines on the way to be scrapped from Canada. The only residents of the massive ship are thought to be rats, would would have resorted to cannibalism to survive at sea. Normally Hooded Talons Bird and Pest Control Services would take on any rat control job in Cornwall, but we do not like the thought of this one!! If you have a slightly smaller scale rat problem in Cornwall, please contact Kevin McMillan for a quote. Wired has a very interesting article on a falcon found in Central and South America that specialises in eating wasps. The red-throated Caracara will repeatedly attack wasp nest, relying on the behaviour characteristic of the wasps in that region to eventually abandon the nest. The Caracara will then take the wasp nest to their chicks, enabling the chicks to feed on the protein rich wasp larvae. Unfortunately this tactic probably would not work in the Northern hemisphere, as the short breeding season means that wasps will be more determinedly protective of their nests. For a more conventional (though unfortunately less interesting) form of wasp nest removal in Cornwall, please contact Kevin at HT Bird and Pest Control Services. The recent flooding in the UK has seen some homes experience an influx of rats seeking refuge from the flooded countryside. This article in the Mirror also reports on the recent problems experienced in controlling rats in the UK, as the rat population becomes immune to most of the commonly available poisons. Do not hesitate to contact HT Bird and Pest Control Services if you need assistance with a rodent problem. This interesting article by the BBC highlights the growth in the pest control industry within the UK during 2013. The causes of the increase in pest problems include changing climate and seasonal patterns, which have lead to rodent control and wasp control issues. The economic climate has resulted in people buying more second hand furniture, which unfortunately has lead to new infestations from pests such as bedbugs. The councils have also scaled back on their pest control services. If you are looking for pest control in Cornwall and Devon, please do not hesitate to contact HT Bird and Pest Control Services.
